How it works

Voicemail 25 takes messages when you can't answer the phone and can store 25 messages of up to five minutes each.

Activating Voicemail 25

Before you use Voicemail 25, you need to set up your mailbox with your personal password. If it's the first time you've used Voicemail 25, you'll be prompted to enter the temporary password we assigned to you when you purchased your mobile phone or Voicemail 25 service.

  1. Dial your area code + mobile phone number. Then press SEND if you're calling from a mobile phone*.

    Note: If this call is long distance**, dial 11 digits (1 + area code + mobile phone number).>
  2. Skip the voicemail greeting by pressing the # key. If you are calling from your mobile phone, pressing the # key is not required.
  3. You'll be prompted to enter the four-digit temporary password we assigned to you.
  4. Follow the prompts to change the temporary password to a new one. It should be 4–15 digits long, and cannot begin with zero.
  5. Follow the prompts to record your name.
  6. Follow the prompts to record a personal greeting or to select the standard greeting.

You're done! Your Voicemail 25 service is now activated.

Good to know

  • You can set up your mailbox from any mobile phone or regular Touchtone® phone.
  • If you don't have your temporary password, dial #SOLO from your mobile phone, or 1 877 999-SOLO (7656) from any phone. Both numbers are free of charge.
  • When you change your service to Voicemail 25, you need to reset your password and your personal greeting. Any unheard or saved messages will not be transferred to your new mailbox.

Resetting your voicemail password

You can reset your voicemail password using Solo Mobile self-serve at no charge.

On your mobile phone or smartphone:

  1. Go to to self serve using the mobile browser. Or, launch the Solo Mobile self serve app.
  2. If applicable, select your mobile phone.
  3. In My account tab, select feature settings.
  4. Select Reset my voicemail password.
  5. Select Reset password and follow instructions.

On your computer:

  1. Log in to self serve.
  2. Click My Account at the top of the page. If applicable, select your mobile phone.
  3. Click the My plan & features tab.
  4. Scroll down to Manage my Add-ons and Settings, and click Reset Voicemail password.

If you are still having issues accessing your voicemail, please contact us. A charge will apply if you have customer service reset your password for you.

Retrieving messages from your voicemail

  1. Dial your area code + mobile phone number + press SEND if you're calling from a mobile phone.

    Note: If this call is long distance*, dial 11 digits (1 + area code + mobile phone number).
  2. Skip the voicemail greeting by pressing the # key. If you are calling from your mobile phone, pressing the # key is not required.
  3. Enter your password. If you are calling from your mobile phone and Skip Password is turned on, you will not be requested to enter your password.
  4. Follow the instructions to listen to your messages.

*Long distance charges will apply.

To save time, use speed dial to access your Voicemail 25. You'll need to refer to the user manual for your phone to find out how to insert either a two-second pause or "soft pause" into the speed dial number.

Good to know

You now have the option of skipping your voicemail password entirely when calling from your mobile phone! This is an optional feature which needs to be enabled.

Here's how:

  1. Dial your voicemail number.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Press 4 to change your Personal Options.
  4. Press 2 to change your Administrative Options.
  5. Press 1 to Establish or Change General Options.
  6. Press 1 for Password Options.
  7. Press 2 to turn Skip Password on or off.
  8. Press 1 to turn Skip Password on.

Once this option is enabled, simply listen to your messages by calling your voicemail number from your mobile and you will be automatically logged in to your mailbox!

Setting up Speed Dial

  1. Enter 1 + your area code + mobile phone number. Do not press SEND.
  2. Press MENU and select the "soft" or two-second pause. Repeat this step two more times to insert a total of three pauses.
  3. Press the # key.
  4. Press MENU and select another pause.
  5. Enter your Voicemail 25 password. Select Save to store the number in your speed dial.
    Example: (1 + area code + mobile phone number) + Pause + Pause + Pause + # + Pause + Password.

Good to know

If you enter an incorrect password twice, the line will be disconnected. To listen to your messages, you must start over.

Changing your voicemail password

  1. Access the mailbox and enter your password.
  2. Press 4 for Personal Options.
  3. Press 2 for Administrative Options.
  4. Press 1 to Establish or Change your Password.

You're done! You now have a new password.

Good to know

  • Avoid passwords that are too simple, such as '1234' or the last four digits of your mobile phone number.
  • Regularly change your password to prevent unauthorized access to your voicemail. Do not disclose your password to anyone.
  • If you lose or forget your password, we will reset your voicemail (charges apply).

Changing your personal greeting

  1. Access the mailbox and enter your password.
  2. Press 4 for Personal Options.
  3. Press 3 for Personal Greeting Options.
  4. Press 1 and follow the instructions for changing your greeting.

Good to know

If you would like to disable the option for callers to leave a callback number, you can now do that.

Here's how:

  1. Dial your voicemail number.
  2. Enter your password.*
  3. Press 4 to change your Personal Options.
  4. Press 2 to change the Administrative Options.
  5. Press 1 to Establish or Change General Options.
  6. Press 7 to change the Cut-Through-Paging Options.
  7. Press 2 to turn the Cut-Through-Paging off.

*Not required if calling from your mobile phone and Skip Password is on.

If you would like to just disable the prompt for callers to leave a callback number on your voicemail box, here's how:

  1. Dial your voicemail number.
  2. Enter your password.*
  3. Press 4 to change your Personal Options.
  4. Press 2 to change the Administrative Options.
  5. Press 1 to Establish or Change General Options.
  6. Press 7 to change Cut-Through-Paging Options.
  7. Press 1 to change the caller prompting for Cut-Through-Paging.
  8. Press 2 to turn the caller prompting for Cut-Through-Paging off.

*Not required if calling from your mobile phone and Skip Password is on.

Recording an extended absence greeting

If you'll be away for a period of time, use this feature to record a new greeting without erasing your usual one. Callers will hear your absence greeting on the first ring and won't be able to leave a message, so your mailbox won't fill up. When you deactivate the feature, your usual greeting will return.

Here's how:

  1. Dial the area code and mobile phone number from your mobile phone; press SEND.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Press 4 for Personal Options.
  4. Press 3 for Greeting Message Options.
  5. Press 2 and follow the instructions for creating an extended absence greeting.

Removing an extended absence greeting

  1. Dial the area code and mobile phone number from your mobile phone; press SEND.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Follow the instructions to turn your extended absence greeting off.

Changing your Ring Control

With ring control, you can choose the number of times your mobile rings before Voicemail 25 picks up.

  1. From your mobile phone, press *94.
  2. Enter the number of standard rings that you'd like your callers to hear before Voicemail 25 picks up; this can be between two and nine rings.
  3. Press SEND.
  4. If the change was successful, you'll hear a confirmation tone. If the change wasn't successful, you'll hear a fast busy signal; repeat steps 1–3.

You're done! You've now changed your ring control.

Accessing your voicemail

By mobile phone within Canada:

  1. Dial your mobile number (area code + number) and press SEND (the button may read YES, TALK, OK or have a phone icon instead of the word SEND).
  2. You'll then be prompted to enter your password. For additional information, please refer to your user manual.

Please note: If you're outside your calling area, long distance charges may apply. If you forget your password, please contact a Solo Mobile representative at 1 877 999-SOLO (7656).

By mobile phone within the United States:

  1. Dial 1 + your area code + mobile phone number and press SEND.
  2. Skip the greeting message by pressing #.
  3. Enter your password. Follow the instructions to listen to your messages. Long distance and roaming charges apply.

By landline phone:

  1. Dial your area code + mobile phone number. Note: If this call is long distance, dial 11 digits (1 + area code + mobile phone number).
  2. Skip the greeting by pressing the # key.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Follow the instructions to listen to your messages.

Good to know

  • Different types of mobiles have different standard ring lengths and customizable settings. If you enter a number of rings under two or over 9, the system will automatically abort the change and default to the previous setting.
  • Ring control only works when the phone is on, and on the Solo Mobile network.

From Voicemail 25's main menu, you can access two sub-menus: one to listen to your messages, and the other to change your personal options.

Voicemail 25 troubleshooting

I can't change my password.

Make sure your new password is between four and 15 digits long, and doesn't begin with a zero.

I can't access Voicemail 25.

Deactivate Call Forwarding to access your Voicemail 25. If Call Forwarding is activated, it will override the Voicemail 25.
