There are six Unlimited Zones across Canada: Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. View detailed maps or enter your postal code to determine if you’re in an Unlimited Zone. And yes, you can speak in French if you like.

If you have already activated an account with an Unlimited Prepaid Plan, you can check if you are located in an Unlimited Zone by dialing #ZONE (#9663) free from anywhere in Canada on your phone. Or just ask someone on the street what city you’re in.

How will I be billed for calls that I start outside of my zone, but end in my zone?

Calls are billed based on their point of origin. That means if the call begins outside the zone but is still connected when you move into the Unlimited Zone, you’ll be billed an out-of-zone rate for the duration of the call. Financially, it’s a good thing to keep in mind. As a friendly reminder, the out-of-zone rate is 25¢ per minute.

How will I be billed for calls that I start in my zone and end out of my zone?

Calls are billed based on their point of origin. That means if a call originates inside your Unlimited Zone, no out-of-zone charges will be incurred. Even if you move out of your zone while the call is still connected. Now that’s what we call a win-win.

Will I be billed for sending and receiving text messages outside of my Unlimited Zone?

No, text messages can be sent or received anywhere in Canada (yep, even there) at no additional cost. Keep in mind that if you have Unlimited Talk 35 your plan features unlimited incoming text messages and 50 outgoing text messages. If you exceed 50 sent text messages in one month, pay-per-use charges will apply. Additional domestic texts are 10¢/text and international texts (sent from Canada and the U.S.) are an additional 15¢/text.

Note: You’ll need a positive balance in your account in order to send and receive text messages.

If I am in the Ottawa Unlimited Zone, which province is my province-wide calling valid in? I notice that this zone crosses into Quebec.

Unlimited calling for the Ottawa Unlimited Zone applies to the province of Ontario and not Quebec. If you are within the Unlimited Zone and in a city in Quebec, your unlimited talking still applies to the province of Ontario and not the province of Quebec. Long distance charges may apply in Quebec. Here is a helpful reference chart that’s hopefully more helpful than this paragraph:

Ottawa to Ottawa Unlimited
Ottawa to Gatineau Unlimited
Ottawa to Montreal Out of Zone
$0.15
Ottawa to Toronto Unlimited
Gatineau to Ottawa Unlimited
Gatineau to Gatineau Unlimited
Gatineau to Montreal Out of Zone
$0.15
Gatineau to Toronto** Unlimited

**Unlimited province-wide calling for Gatineau applies to ON, not QC.
